On March 13^th 2009, Director Conference of CAS Botanical Gardens was convened in Wuhan Botanical Garden. The directors or director representatives participated in the conference are from CAS South China Botanical Garden, CAS Wuhan Botanical Garden, CAS Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Turfan Botanical Garden of CAS Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Beijing Botanical Garden of CAS Institute of Botany, Botanical Garden of CAS Kunming Institute of Botany, Arboretum of CAS Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, which are under the direct administration of CAS, and are also from the Botanical Gardens under the joint administration of both CAS and the local government, namely, Nanjing Sun Yat-sen Memorial Botanical Garden, Lushan Botanical Garden, Guilin Botanical Garden, Shenzhen Botanical Garden, Qinling Botanical Garden. Directors or director representatives reported their respective work progress in 2008 and the plans for 2009. Administration issues regarding the performance appraisals and management of the operation funds for the CAS special projects of botanical gardens, and the construction of the national system of botanical gardens were discussed. Officials from the Integrative Biology Department of CAS Bureau of Life Science and Biotechnology attended and presided over the conference.
