Academician Dr. Enze Min Paid a Visit to WBG for Microalgae Bio-diesel Program

On the afternoon of May 12th, Dr. Enze Min—Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chinese Academy of Science, the winner of 2007 National Top Science and Technology Award—paid a visit to Wuhan Botanical Garden for “Microalgae Bio-diesel Technology”, which is a joint program of the Sinopec and Chinese Academy of Sciences. Mr. Wang Zhanjun, vice director of WBG and other staffs concerned give them a warm welcome.
On February 28th, 2009, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Sinopec jointly launched the program "Microalgae Bio-diesel Technology”. The Plant Biotechnology Group of WBG took the project “Breeding and Large-scale Cultivation of Oil-producing Microalgae”. On a report-back meeting, Professor Yeguang Li, the principal investigator, made an introduction to progress of the project, the updated achievements on gene bank construction of energy microalgae and screening of good oil-producing microalgae lines, and the working foundations for large-scale cultivation of oil-producing microalgae in the open pool. Dr. Min and his colleagues listened to the report carefully and highly appreciated the progress and current achievements on the project. Then, Dr. Min and his colleagues visited the Gene Bank and Laboratory of Energy Microalgae in WBG, and promised to accelerate collaboration in the joint program.
