Prof. Serge Delrot Delivers Lecture at WBG

2011-10-27

Prof. Serge Delrot, director of the Institute of Grape and Wine Sciences, University of Bordeaux, paid a visit to Wuhan Botanical Garden on Oct. 24. His visit was at the invitation of Prof. LI Shaohua, director of WBG.

Prof. Serge Delrot delivered a lecture entitled “Molecular and Genetic Approaches on Grapevine Quality and Adaptation to Water” to the staff and students. His lecture focused on the genetic determinism of transpiration by grapevine rootstock. According to Prof. Delrot, the transpiration of the scion and its regulation by the rootstock are genetically determined even when the soil volume is controlled. After the lecture, Prof. Delrot also held talks with relevant scientists at WBG.

Prof. Delrot got his Ph.D degree in University of Poitiers, France in 1981. His research mainly focuses on interaction between primary and secondary metabolism during grape berry development. He is now chairing COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Action 858 on viticulture.
