The Ornamental Plants and Gardening Elite Class, jointly set up by Wuhan Botanical Garden (WBG) and College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), opened On April 2th in WBG. Vice president GAO Chi from HZAU, vice president WANG Ying from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), executive dean DING Wenjun from College of Life Sciences, UCAS, and director LI Shaohua from WBG attended the opening ceremony. It was hosted by Director LI Shaohua.

Director LI Shaohua gave a brief introduction of WBG and the purpose of setting up the Elite Class with HZAU. Vice president GAO Chi from HZAU introduced the historical origin of HZAU and WBG, and wished that students in the class would cherish this opportunity to work hard and become the elites. Vice president WANG Ying from UCAS affirmed the importance of this class.

WBG and HZAU have signed to set up the elite class in December, 2013. 53 students from HZAU were selected as the first participating students.
