The 12th International Symposium on Management of Potassium in Plant and Soil Systems in China (MPPSS) was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province of China during July 25-27. More than 250 participants including 34 speakers from all over the world attended the meeting.

Dr. Chen Fang, principal investigator of Plant Nutrition and Agro-ecology Research Group at Wuhan Botanical Garden, gave a presentation entitled “Research progress on the mechanism of crop potassium efficient use--a China perspective” in the session of “potassium in plants". In his presentation, Dr. Chen reviewed current situation of the reservation and consumption of potash in the world, and shared with the audience his understanding of the mechanisms of potassium high use efficiency with different cotton genotypes, which is the newest reseach result of his group.
