International Cooperation between Wuhan Botanical Garden and National Institute of Crop Science

2013-07-12

Dr. Setsuko Komatsu, professor of plant proteomics at National Institute of Crop Science (Japan) visited Wuhan Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

From August, 2012 to June, 2013, Dr. Setsuko Komatsu and Plants Reproductive Biology Research Group have carried a joint research project. During the period of cooperation, they investigated the role of phytohormones in soybean under flooding stress, relevant results were published in Journal of Proteome Research entitled "Label-Free Quantitative Proteomic Analysis of Abscisic Acid Effect in Early-Stage Soybean under Flooding”. At the same time, they have participated in the writing of Proteomics and applications to food science in rice (the chapter 20 of Proteomics in Foods: Principles and Applications), the edition of frontiers in plant science as the Guest Editor, and the organization of The 4th International Symposium on Frontiers in Agruculture Proteome Research on Nov.8-11, 2012. This cooperation strengthens the connection between Wuhan Botanical Garden and international famous research groups, but also lays a good foundation for subsequent cooperation.

Dr. Setsuko Komatsu is a head of laboratory at National Institute of Crop Science and a professor at University of Tsukuba, Japan. She is a visiting professor of WBG. She obtained her Ph.D. from Meiji Pharmaceutical University. Since 1990s, she started working on plant proteomics using protein sequencer and mass spectrometry at National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences. From 2006, she is doing research by a present official position. Her main research interests are within the field of crop proteomics, biochemistry and molecular biology with a special focus on signal transduction in cell.
