Kenya, China Sign Deal to Establish Joint Research Centre

Kenya’s Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Academy of Sciences to support the operation of the China-Africa joint research centre.
The centre, the only one built by the academy in Africa, is geared towards scientific research and encouraging knowledge transfer between the two countries.
Kenyan and Chinese leaders and scholars from gathered at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology to officially open the JKUAT Botanical Garden and the Sino-Africa Joint Research Centre.
The botanical garden was set up in collaboration with the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and it disseminates cultural and scientific information about plants.
SAJOREC, a collaborative initiative between JKUAT and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, comprises specialist research facilities including laboratories, a herbarium and greenhouses.
Kenya and China have collaborated on a variety of projects, not just in the education and research sectors, but also in fields such as infrastructure, energy, health and many more. (From CGTN)
