Twenty-six experts under CAS system attend the conference

During May 10th to 11th, a workshop on construction of subject-oriented database for Botanical Gardens under CAS system sponsored by Network Information Center, CAS and undertaken by Wuhan Botanical Garden, CAS was convened in Wuhan. Twenty-six experts and scholars from Network Information Center, CAS, South China Botanical Garden, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Institute of Botany, Kunming Institute of Botany and Wuhan Botanical Garden attended the workshop.

 Li Shaohua, director of Wuhan Botanical Garden warmly welcomed all the guests. Yan Baoping , Chief Engineer of Network Information Center, CAS introduced the background of the project and illustrated the profound meaning of this workshop. Yang Zhongqing , researcher from WBG, Hu Huabin  from XTBG and Liao Jingping  from SCBG delivered speech respectively on “Ideas on Construction of Subject-oriented Database of Botanical Gardens”, "Information Management and Database Construction of XTBG” and “Information Management and Database Management of SCBG”. During the two-day meeting, experts had a deep discussion on how to construct the subject-oriented database and standardize each Garden’s own database to achieve the combination of subject-oriented database. Consequently, a work team consisted of core members from network information center of each Botanical Garden or Institute was built to work together to finish the project in September.

This workshop promoted the communication on digital Botanical Garden of each Botanical Garden and accelerated the progress on subject-oriented database construction.
