2nd Conference of 1st session of Academic Committee, Key Lab was held in WBG

 Prof. Shaohua Li, director of the Lab reported the annual performance in 2010 

On May 15th, the second conference of the first session of academic committee, Key Laboratory of Plant Germplasm Enhancement and Specialty Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in Wuhan Botanical Garden. Honorary director of the lab academic committee and academician Prof. Tingdong Fu, director and academician Prof. Xiuxin Deng, members of the academic committee, CPC Secretary and Vice Director of WBG Mr. Zhiqiang Luo, Vice CPC Secretary of WBG Junjie Gong and all the Lab members participated in the conference. Prof. Ziyuan Duan, Executive Vice Director of Agricultural Project Department, and Dr. Zhiping Lou,  Head of Integrative Biology Section, Bureau of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited to the conference.

Prof. Shaohua Li, director of the Lab reported the annual performance in 2010, introducing the working progress, research achievements, organizational structure, talent cultivation and key research fields of the Lab in 2011. Dr. Lei Gao, Prof. Jinmin Fu, Prof. Yansheng Zhang and Prof. Ying Wang made special reports in their respective research fields.

After listening the reports, the committee members discussed further on these topics and proposed the following suggestions for the Lab development. Firstly, scientific research should be the focus and dominant force of the Lab. Secondly, strengthen the cultivation of talents and optimize the performance management system. Thirdly, the experimental condition of the Lab should be improved to provide a better platform for research. Fourthly, more cooperation with relevant institutes is needed. Fifthly, pay attention to systematicity and integrality of scientific research.

Prof. Shaohua Li appreciated the suggestions and comments proposed by conference participants, and said he would organize the Lab members to discuss and implement these suggestions. This conference is very important for the development of the Lab.
