3rd Conference of 1st Academic Committee, Hubei Key Laboratory of Wetland Evolution & Ecological Restoration, Held in WBG

The third conference of first Academic Committee, Hubei Key Laboratory of Wetland Evolution & Ecological Restoration, was held in Wuhan Botanical Garden on June 3rd. Members of the Academic Committee, CPC Secretary and Vice Director of WBG Zhiqiang Luo, Vice CPC Secretary Junjie Gong and members from research groups of the Lab attended the conference. Baichun Zheng, deputy head of Hubei Provincial Science&Technology Department was invited to the conference.

Vice CPC Director Junjie Gong warmly welcomed all the guests. After that, she reviewed the development of the Lab as well as the support from WBG. Yanxin Wang, President of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) prospected the future of the Lab and introduced the scheme on the Lab made by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Mr. Baichun Zheng congratulated this conference and proposed some wishes on the development of the Lab.

Research Fellow Wei Li, director of the Lab made a report on work in 2010, reporting the working progress, projects being undertaken, research achievements, research team development, talents training as well as main research focuses of the lab in 2011. Dr. Xinmin Lu, Chenxi Wu and Jingrui Chen from the Lab made special reports entitled “Invasive Mechanism of Alternanthera philoxeroides and Its Management”, "Research on Organochlorine Pesticides Contamination in Wetland System of Jianghan Plain” and “David deer’s Influence on Soil Respiration of Floodplain Wetland”, respectively.

After listening the reports, the Academic Committee members had further discussions on related topics. Finally, they proposed some suggestions on the development of the Lab.
