Professor XIE Changfu from National Taiwan University Visits WBG

On July 13th, invited by Dr. JIANG Mingxi from Lab of Vegetation Ecology, Wuhan Botanical Garden, Professor XIE Changfu from Institute of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, National Taiwan University made a presentation entitled “Biodiversity of the Vascular Flora in Taiwan” in WBG.
Professor XIE introduced the physical background and botanical exploration history of Taiwan. Then, he had a deep analysis on biodiversity, endemism, geographical distribution and floristic relationships of the vascular plants in Taiwan. After the presentation, the participants had a further discussion on relevant topics with him.
As a professor on plant ecology and taxonomy of National Taiwan University, Professor XIE's research interests are biodiversity of higher plants and forest ecology. Currently, he is in charge of the digital National Taiwan University Herbarium and engaged in long-term ecology research, including species composition, nutrient cycling and community succession and regeneration.
